Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty cars have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.
Police then found many other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police state early analysis indicate the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; officials are presently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they commented.
City officials said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have asked to the residents for tips.
An important official stated the vandalism rendered him speechless and required to be addressed quickly.
"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on online, recalling the killing of nine people by a shooter aiming at people of immigrant origin in 2020.
