An individual who contaminated treats with sedative and distributed them to minors at a youth camp in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two boys who were between nine and ten.
The accused was detained after eight minors and one adult fell ill at the location in July.
The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, pleaded guilty to a total of 17 charges when he stood at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was against a young boy.
Ruben was kept in jail ahead of a further hearing on 28 November.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, described the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.
She stated his targets were under-privileged children who were staying at a youth camp which he ran.
The defendant conducted a "candy game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel stated, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".
She told the court the defendant had conducted this practice with the young males "for many years", and minors had previously become sick the following morning.
She stated the man had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had suspicions in recently.
The prosecutor added: "This year his stepson had worries about the activities, justifiably.
"They chose" to examine in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel said items including lubricant, petroleum jelly and injection devices were located, and his family member contacted the police about his concerns.
She stated the defendant proceeded to play the "treat game" with six boys that night - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the next day.
"Authorities" had not responded by that point," she stated further.
The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, earlier informed that it was reviewing the police response of the events.
Mrs Prior explained the minors were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson called the police again.
She stated the defendant then conducted the "treat game" in a room of five children.
