Nearly 25,000 residences in Queensland's southeast were left experiencing outages on Monday morning after powerful weather events impacted the region, generating wind gusts hitting 109km/h.
Large Ice Stones and Widespread Destruction
Homeowners reported large ice chunks as large as 7cm in some areas. Weather authorities verified that various areas across Queensland had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Utility workers were focused on reestablishing electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with dozens of response units activated to address the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victorian Climate Difficulties
Meanwhile, around one thousand residents in Victoria also faced electricity disruptions after Melbourne recorded its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.
Emergency response teams responded to over five hundred requests for assistance across the state, primarily for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

Humid circumstances were predicted to continue along much of eastern Queensland this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.
Tuesday was predicted as the wettest day, with continued thunderstorm potential anticipated across various areas of both regions.

Medical authorities alerted that there was an greater possibility of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
This alert comes after previous incidents where analogous circumstances led to significant health impacts in the area.
